An Interesting Introduction

In 3rd grade, I knew I would grow up to be a teacher Woburn Public Schools 2001-2007 -1st and 2nd grade classroom teacher Wrentham Public Schools 2008 -4th grade classroom teacher -3 years teaching all 5 subjects -7 years teaching ELA to two homerooms -Now, 5 fabulous subjects I LOVE…. ~my family ~my students ~learning ~taking photos ~the beach ~ all things Disney

Homework Happy Homework: Monday is Marvelous -EVERY Monday a reading log will be sent home and EVERY Monday the reading log will be turned in. 20 minutes each night. Reading a book at your child’s Just Right reading level. -Every Monday a math facts log will be sent home and EVERY Monday the math facts log will be turned in. 10 minutes each night. Practice facts from your child’s math goal page. -Every Monday a Math 4 Today homework sent home. Every day return Math 4 Today homework. Reviewed in class. Math 4 Today assessment taken on Mondays. -Graded tests will be brought home and signed by an adult. The next day the student will return the signed test.

Reading: Lucy Calkins Reading Workshop School and Home reading: -Just Right books based reading ability from our Fountas and Pinnell testing -Just Right books based on interest -will read a fiction book then switch to a nonfiction book -will join in “book chats” -when finished reading a book, will take an Accelerated Reading Test on the book to check for comprehension Terrific Topics: -Fiction: character analysis and themes -Nonfiction: text structures, summaries, Main idea and supporting details. Read Aloud Texts: -Wonder -Tiger Rising -The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

Create a clear thesis about the brilliant book and provide book based evidence to support the thesis.
