How do you use a search engine? How do search engines work? Search Engines Buys and Spoof/Hoax websites How do you make sense of the results?

How do search engines work? How does the search engines work? When you search something like “Bee”. Web crawlers will go out and find as many results as it possibly can, even if you spell it wrong it will find something near enough what you searched for “Recommended”. From when you type it in, Algorithms depending on what you typed in it will go step by step looking for what you searched. BBC Primary search engines

How do you use a search engine? Be very specific, so for example what channel is the amazing world of gumball? Or, what channel is gumball on? Pick the first one because more people would use it, also it would be more specific so you would get the answer. Don’t use punctuation, don’t use ~#@’?><.,[]{}!”& because you might not get your answer or there is no need to put it in. 3. Don’t use bad grammar like, im gonna elp ya. 4. If you use Boolean you can expand and shorten your results. If you use and you shorten your results by an extreme amounted. If you use or your results expand by an extreme amount. Like for example if you use and the results would be 100,000 witch is allot but if you use or your results we be like 50,000,000 witch is loads. If you use AND or OR in a search you can expand by using OR. Also if you use AND you shorten your results.

Making sence of the results These are different domains. But can you spot witch is official white house website? Work it out by looking at the domains. LOOK OUT FOR ADS. DON’T CLICK ON THEM!! .gov www.whitehouse.gov Government .net www.whitehouse.net Internet Provider .com www.whitehouse.com company /kids www.whitehouse.gov/kids education .edu www.harvard.edu Higher education .ac.uk www.shu.ac.uk academic .org www.caford.org.uk organisation .co.uk www.bbc.co.uk British company .mil www.navy.mil military Top ranking websites are sometimes the wrong thing to click because it is a ad and you have to pay money to go on the website or just to pay to save something.

Bias and spoof/hoax websites Some websites can be bias, spoof or hoax they mean that it is a fake or unreal website. We will take an example of dog island, this website is Hoax because it is a fake and could cause you dog to go away top Florida when actually you just wasting your time and money. Spoof means that the
