Field Experience 1 Assignment 1 Part B

Table of Contents SLIDES Overview of assignment 3-6 Locating resources you need 7-11 Completing assignment 12-18

OVERVIEW

OVERVIEW You will practice completing one small part of the edTPA, so when you do it “for real” next semester, it will be simple for you. This is the part of the edTPA that helps the person evaluating your edTPA understand the school, classroom, and students you worked with for your edTPA

Assignment 1 Part B from the syllabus Submit on LiveText by Due Date

Remember: This is a practice run to help you get comfortable with this one part of the edTPA It is okay if it is not completed perfectly

LOCATING RESOURCES

FIND YOUR edTPA HANDBOOK and Context for Learning Template These are located on BlackBoard Community Detailed directions are on next slide and also posted on the website under Assignment tab

Also available on website under Assignments

Use the Table of Contents in your EdTPA to find the Early Childhood Context for Learning

Early Childhood Context for Learning Looks Like This

COMPLETING THE ASSIGNMENT

Remember You will not be able to complete every question because you are in fieldwork, not student teaching when you spend every day in the classroom The goal is to feel more comfortable with this one small part of the edTPA

Read over the first page Just answer the questions that you can. You will leave some blank or put NA. Remember the purpose is to give you practice so you already know this form when you are completing the edTPA When you are in student teaching, you will be there every day—you will know more details

Have a discussion with your CT You can let your CT know that you will have a few questions about some of the students who need specific supports Aim to talk to your teacher in the third or fourth visit, so you have had some time to watch and gather your own ideas about the students If you were late getting started in your placement or weather or holidays have delayed your placement, don’t worry. Just send your professor an email with FW1 “Context for Learning” in the subject line. Let your professor know the date when you can have the assignment completed.

Ask your CT about needs of students Some districts will let you look at IEPs/504s or summary information about students with special needs. Some districts will not let you do this. Either way is okay. Just by watching students in the first few fieldwork visits, you will be able to identify some needs that you see.

Enter your responses on the template that let’s you type into it Enter your responses on the template that let’s you type into it. You should have already downloaded it from Blackboard Community
