September 2000 Background Over that last two years the FCC has been evaluating a modification to FCC Part 15 section 247 which regulates the operation of devices in the ISM Bands. Rule change proposed by HomeRF The proposal was to modify the rule to allow for wide band frequency hopping. The IEEE has opposed the change due to the potential increased interference. September 2000 WBFH Ruling Recently (August 22, 2000) amended Part 15 section 247 (See FCC 00-312). The purpose was to allow for high rate Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum systems in the 2.4 GHz ISM Band.
