Follow us on twitter at @KaimhillSch Pupil Equity Funding at Kaimhill School “Pupil Equity Funding is money that will go to your child’s school to help them provide the best possible opportunities for children’s learning. In particular, it is there to help the school support children who experience barriers to learning and who might be falling behind or not getting the same chances in their education because their family is experiencing poverty or other financial difficulties. This money is given to schools as part of the Scottish Government's Scottish Attainment Challenge.” – Education Scotland Our Vision “At Kaimhill School, we are a diverse and inclusive community of learners who strive to do our best for ourselves and others. With a positive attitude, we develop confident, creative leaders of tomorrow. We grow from our mistakes and step out of our comfort zones to reach our full potential.” What we have done in 2017-2018: Increased training opportunities in literacy and numeracy interventions for all PSA staff – delivered by Ms Dingwall 36 additional hours allocated to PSA provision to support implementation of literacy and numeracy interventions Purchased new resources to support learning across the school Focused on improving the quality of learning and teaching through the Visible Learning Programme Introduced a part-time Barnardo’s worker, Northern Star Initiative, to engage with families on a regular basis to ensure punctuality, attendance, engagement, inclusion and participation across the school Provided pupils with a richer school experience which promotes increased confidence in literacy and enhanced vocabulary, and nurtures emotional wellbeing through weekly sessions with resident storyteller Introduced the Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust initiative – Better Playground Play – Term 4. Our Next Steps: Continue to embed learning interventions from 2017-2018 Extend Barnardo’s worker to full-time hours to promote trauma informed practice, secure attachment and resilience Further engagement with Visible Learning programmes for all staff focusing on the key findings from the V.L. research which shows how to make learning visible, and how to apply this research in our school to ensure continuous improvement for all Introduce Growth Mindset approach across nursery and school settings ensuring high aspirations for all Further support from Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust to deliver a targeted health and well-being programme to improve social skills, resilience, engagement and participation.
