North Somerset Dementia Support Worker Service Work with people with dementia, carers and families to improve understanding of dementia. Provide one-one support in the persons home. Provide information on the behavioural changes a person with dementia may experience and offer a range of techniques and strategies that may help.

North Somerset Dementia Support worker service Signpost to other relevant support Support people to make informed decisions about legal and future care arrangements. Provide information about benefits available. Work in partnership with other statutory & voluntary services.

Memory Cafe A Memory Café is a place where people with dementia and their carers can be together in a safe, welcoming and non- medical environment in the company of others To have a café style environment They can gain information and support Take part in activities Held at Sandford Station Thursdays fortnightly from 2.30 – 4pm

Memory Café Outcomes Helps break down the isolation and stigma people with dementia often have to deal with Provides a social activity for carers and cared for together in an accepting, safe environment, given a sense of normality Encourages volunteering Supports carers of people with dementia Socialisation will encourage people with dementia to interact with more people.

Memory Café with Music & Dance Aims: Enables & supports social interaction with the specific intention of reducing social isolation. To help people with dementia and their families to feel part of society. North Somerset Carer Support Groups Provide: An opportunity for carers to discuss shared issues Peer support Hints & tips from other carers and Dementia Support Worker An on-site service with activities is provided for people with dementia to enable their carer to attend. Groups are held once a month: 1 st Thursday 6.30pm – 8.30pm at Ebdon Court in Worle Last Tuesday 6.30pm – 8.30pm at Windmill House, Kenn

North Somerset Forget- Me-Not Sessions Held in various GP surgeries across the locality Encourages people with concerns about their memory or that of a family member to make an appointment for an informal chat. Can lead to further investigations by GP and onward referral to memory assessment services where appropriate.
