Science Binders The science binder is the students “best friend” Science Binders The science binder is the students “best friend”! It must be in the classroom every day! All students are required to have a 3 ring science binder filled with loose leaf paper. The binder has a table of contents (TOC) in the front and two dividers: Notes and Vocabulary Notes are recorded in the table of contents and each page is numbered. Vocabulary is not numbered or recorded in the TOC but has the “week number” written on top of the page. Quizzes and Tests are not placed or recorded in the binders. They are to be taken home. Students that come to class without their binders will receive one negative DoJo point – “Not Prepared”.

Class Dojo The sixth grade teachers use Class Dojo to record student behaviors in order to maintain a safe and orderly environment! Positive Dojo’s are given as we observe positive student behaviors such as class participation, helping others, prepared, etc. Negative Dojo’s are given when we observe negative student behaviors such as excessive talking, off task, disrespect, etc. Each positive Dojo cancels out one Negative Dojo. For example, if a student has 3 negative Dojo’s but then receives one positive Dojo, the student will then have only 2 negative Dojo’s instead of 3. Students that have 3 or more negative Dojo’s by Friday afternoon will not be allowed to participate in “Freaky Friday” free time.

“Remind” Text System Best Method of Contact! Directions for how to join is posted on the classroom wall and in the hallway! Usually instantaneous response from teachers. Used to relay important information and to reach out to parents concerning student behaviors. How to join is posted on the wall and in the hallway

Study Island Requirements for Science Class 45 minutes per week (We have Computer Lab on Friday’s so the students should be able to get their time in during lab. If not, they will be required to complete the time at home.) Cumulative Average must be greater than 70 to play games. Read the lessons before practicing. (FYI: Minutes do not accumulate while reading lessons.) Students are not allowed to proceed until Blue Ribbons have been earned in the previous topics. King and Queen’s Court awarded weekly to highest scores with 45 min. or more.

King and Queen's Court Prince King 2nd highest boy Avg. no less than 45 mins. Princess 2nd highest girl Avg. no less than 45 mins. King Highest boy Avg. no less than 45 mins.
