We have had a Pilot Unit operating at Viridors EfW facility at Ardley CCm Research was established in 2013 to develop processes that utilise carbon dioxide and other waste materials in new products Our approach is to focus on combining Carbon dioxide and Biogenic Wastes / Bye Products to produce more sustainable materials Our principal products are fertilisers, compound biobased and heat storage materials We have had a Pilot Unit operating at Viridors EfW facility at Ardley System has been operational for 36 months and has produced materials for two full seasons of field trials. Just commissioning 10kT output system for another Viridor site Hogan Lovells’ brief was to construct an anti-infringement strategy (play devil’s advocate) Climeworks’ (www.climeworks.com) Swiss patent and methods of neutralising its effect.   Climeworks concentrate more on atmospheric CO2, but they specify 'cellulose fibres’ in their patent. Climeworks is a Zurich-based company that was spun out of ETH Zurich by the two founders, Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher, in 2009. Their products are based on a novel process and filter material that were developed in collaboration with ETH Zurich and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). They aim at commercial demonstration of atmospheric CO2 capture technology by 2015. Climeworks would like to thank Venture Kick, GEBERT RÜF STIFTUNG, de Vigier Stiftung andClimateKIC for their kind support through start-up financing. Potentially approach Climeworks – develop joint licence? ETH Zürich is an engineering, science, technology, mathematics and management university in the city of Zürich, Like its sister institution Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), it is an integral part of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology Domain (ETH Domain) that is directly subordinate to Switzerland's Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research.[4] ETH Zürich is consistently rated among the top universities in the world. It is currently ranked 4th in Europe overall,[5] and 3rd best university in the world in engineering, science and technology.[6] Twenty-one Nobel Prizes have been awarded to students or professors of the Institute in the past, the most famous of which is Albert Einstein in 1921, and the most recent is Richard F. Heck in 2010. It is a founding member of the IDEA League and the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) and a member of the CESAER network. EMPA - As an interdisciplinary research institute of the ETH Domain, Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, conducts cutting-edge materials and technology research. Empa’s R&D activities focus on meeting the requirements of industry and the needs of society, and thus link applications-oriented research to the practical implementation of new ideas. As a result, Empa is capable of providing its partners with customized solutions that not only enhance their innovative edge and competitiveness, but also help to improve the quality of life for the public at large. Through an efficient technology transfer Empa is turning research results into marketable innovations. The Empa Portal is THE contact point for clients and partners who are seeking innovative solutions to specific problems or who wish to undertake research projects in cooperation with Empa. © 2015 CCm Research Limited (Company Nbr. 07633047) | Oxford University Begbroke Science Park, Woodstock Road, OX5 1PF, United Kingdom
