Adults, Health and Housing Financial Pressures 1. Why We Engage: To listen to what is impacting you. To let you know what is impacting the Authority. To put your views, problems and priorities into the discussion on how services will be funded.

Adults, Health and Housing Financial Pressures 2. Who We Currently Engage With: Care Homes Providers. Homecare Agencies. Supported Living Providers. People with Lived Experience.

Adults, Health and Housing Financial Pressures 3. The Council’s Position: What we pay per hour (National Living Wage) Pensions (Auto enrolment) Things getting more expensive (Inflation) More people need support (Demographic pressure) Carer shortage (Alternative employment locally) Less money from Central Government (real terms funding decreases). Increased responsibility pass to Councils (Changes in legislation)

Adults, Health and Housing Financial Pressures 4. DPEG Feedback Q&A: We want to know what are the financial pressures for you as someone using a direct payment. We need to think about: Being an employer Finding PA’s and Carers Hourly rates We want to know what might help to reduce these financial pressure.

Adults, Health and Housing Financial Pressures 5. What Happens Next: Start the fee setting process Engage with providers Look at what other Local Authorities are doing Work with the Finance Team to look at what money we have available Set a new fee Write a report so the fee can be agreed Inform providers and ask for their feedback Inform DPEG of the outcome and the proposed increase to fees

Market Shaping & The Market Position Statement Adults, Health and Housing Market Position Statement Market Shaping & The Market Position Statement Sarah Turner| Thurrock Council - Joint Commissioning Officer - Operations| Tel: 01375 652857 Ext: 64561 Email: saturner@thurrock.gov.uk

Adults, Health and Housing Market Shaping What is Market Shaping? The way in which a council looks at what people's care and support needs are in the local area, considers what care and support services are available in that area, and works out where the gaps are and how they can be filled. The aim is to make sure that people can find care and support that meets their needs, and that a variety of options are available to suit people's individual circumstances and preferences.

Adults, Health and Housing Market Position Statement What is a Market Position Statement? The main aim of a Market Position Statement is to encourage commissioners, people who use services, carers and provider organizations to work together to explain what care service and support is needed in Thurrock and why. We want to make sure that the Market Position Statement details the outcomes that people feel are important, how these are being achieved at the moment and what services and support is missing.

Adults, Health and Housing Market Position Statement In order to do this we want to find out; What do you think works well now? What care and support services should be improved and how? What we should stop doing? What we should start doing (are there any gaps in service)? What care and support services you want in the future?
