Probability

The probability of an event happening is the number of possible outcomes of an event divided by the total number of outcomes. P(E)= n(E)/n(S)

What is the probablity of flipping a heads on a dime? What is the probability of flipping two heads in a row.

A die is tossed what is the possibility the outcome is 7? A die is tossed what is the possibility it is less than seven? If an event cannot occur the odds are 0, if an event will always occur then it is 1. (6/6)

Probability for Mutually Exclusive events. That is that they both cant happen. What are the odds of drawing 1 card and having it be an Ace or King. P(A or K)= P(A) + P(K)

Probability for Independent events. That is events that can both happen. What is the probability of drawing two cards and one be an ace and the other be a king? P(A and K)= P(A)xP(K)

Probability of an even Not happening P(Event Not)= 1- (event happening) What is the probability of not drawing an ace?

A bag contains 5 apples and 3 oranges, if two items are picked out of the bag w/out replacement: What is the probability that both balls are the same color? P(A and A) or P(O and O)

If a three letter word is formed by randomly choosing 3 letters from the word “Ocean” what is the probability that it is composed of only vowels? 3/5 x 2/4 x 1/3 = 1/10

A bag of marbles contains 8 red ones and 5 green ones A bag of marbles contains 8 red ones and 5 green ones. Three marbles are drawn at random at the same time. What is the probability that: All are red? 8C3/13C3 Two are red and one is green? 8C2 x 5C1 / 13C3
