What is the OGC Mission? Develop open standards and associated standards best practices that promote geospatial interoperability. Serve as the global forum for the collaboration of geospatial data / solution providers and users. Provide an agile and innovative development environment to evolve, test and validate and adopt open standards. The Open Geospatial Consortium Not-for-profit, international voluntary consensus standards organization; leading development of geospatial standards Founded in 1994 with 8 charter members Today – 520+ members Over 50 standards and related best practices Thousands of product implementations Worldwide Implementation Alliances and collaborative activities, with many other standards and professional organizations 100 + Innovation Initiatives A technical , business and social forum to influence and align technology providers Our mission is two fold: To advance the development and use of international standards and supporting services that provide geospatial interoperability. Serve as the global forum for the collaboration of geospatial data / solution providers and users. Since our inception we have grown from 8 initial members to over 520 industry, government, academic, research and NGO members representing the Americas, Europe, Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. Our membership is diverse and well suited for addressing interoperability challenges, with strong representation from the user and industry communities, as well as active participation by research and academic organizations. All of these organizations work fluidly in the OGC process to define “pain points” in interoperability and to drive solutions forward in key OGC programs. OGC standards are implemented in thousands of technology projects and community implementations worldwide, and OGC based technologies underpin national, regional and international spatial data infrastructures worldwide – making it easier to share and cooperatively exploit geospatial information for a range of uses.

Assess the current state of data management and exchange technologies used in the marine domain. Provide a interoperability reference architecture for MSDI Create as a foundation for a potential follow on Pilot Timeline; MSDI-CDS Workshop (23 OCT 2018) Request For Information (RFI) (07 FEB 2019) Next Step: MSDI-CDS Roundtable (late MAR) with Remote attendance Final Report is projected for APR 2019. The workshop was hosted by the US Committee on the Marine Transportation System (CMTS) at the US Department of Transportation (USDOT). Goal: to assess the current state of data and product management and exchange technologies used in the marine domain. The knowledge gained from the CDS will provide the foundation for development of a future pilot that will in turn advance the state of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) that support marine data across the globe. You were identified by the community as a stakeholder that could provide valuable information and insight to support this activity. Specifically, the purpose of this interactive workshop was to inform and guide future OGC Innovation Program Activities such as community based interoperability pilots by: Engaging different stakeholders with detailed knowledge and experience with marine data Helping participants better understand relevant activities planned and underway at OGC and other key organizations Engaging executive level community decision makers and participants to understand the most important challenges Engaging operational and technical stakeholders to gather and share information on the current state geospatial data and services application concerning the marine domain, including: Understanding what data, applications, tools and services stakeholders need Understanding what data, applications, tools and services are available Understanding the discoverability, accessibility, and usability of resources Understanding interoperability challenges and integration opportunities Identifying gaps in data, applications, tools and services Request For Information (RFI) responses were due 07 FEB 2018 - requesting information to help shape the MSDI- CDS, which will assess the current state of data management and exchange technologies used in the marine domain. The knowledge gained from the MSDI-CDS will be captured in a technical report and provide both an interoperability reference architecture for MSDI as well as a foundation for a potential future pilot that will in turn advance the state of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) that support discoverability, accessibility, and interoperability of marine geospatial data across the globe. http://www.opengeospatial.org/projects/initiatives/msdi-cds-2018/ Copyright © 2018 Open Geospatial Consortium
