Understanding Bullying… To understanding bullying we need to understand what someone else is feeling. Close your eyes and picture someone in this room right now. Imagine them eating lunch alone everyday Or imagine their face when they read a mean text Or imagine them being beaten by someone every single day This is called empathy, putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, trying to understand how they feel, and feeling for them.

So what will we do to help? We can… Stand by, witness the bullying and do nothing or DO SOMETHING!

Share some of your ideas as a class How will you show that person whom you just imagined being bullied that you care, and you understand? Share some of your ideas as a class

Being kind to someone can go a long way, showing that you care and understand. If you see someone who is feeling down, or looking sad, how can we treat them with kindness if they are being victimized by bullies?

Activity Record some of your thoughts and ideas on the heart provided, then cut it out to display in the school.

So, why “wear pink?” This is what David, and Travis did to show others they care… http://pinkshirtday.ca/about-us/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjmf3I1_ZhU Video about Travis Price and David Shepherd https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY8wanOHnQg interview with Travis Price https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgIWVRdlW-Q – message from Trudeau
