Historical Examples of Apostasy Threats Against The Church Part X Jude 11

Historical Examples of Apostasy 1. The Way of Cain: Genesis 4:1-15 (Hebrews 11:4) SELF IMPROVED WORSHIP

Historical Examples of Apostasy 2. The Error of Balaam: Num 22-24 (Rev 2:14) SERVICE FOR MONEY

Historical Examples of Apostasy 3. The Rebellion of Korah: Num 16 SPIRITUAL MUTINY

SPIRITUAL MUTINY (vs.1-4) The leaders of the congregation and Korah dissatisfied with Moses. (vs.10-12) Korah is seeking the priesthood/ Rebellion of Dathan and Abiriam. (vs.15-19) Moses asks God to refuse their offering/ Korah rebels. (vs.20-28) Moses announces God’s judgment/ stay away from these men. (vs.29-35) The judgment of God; the earth opens to swallow them up/ fire from God.

Applications: No one has the right to “re-design” God’s established worship requirements. (Cain failed and chastised ) No excuses, The service of the Lord is not open to bribes and money gains. (Balaam was disciplined publicly) 3. No position in God’s service gives one the right to rebel against God-established leadership; judgment is severe.
