This Week in … Ms. Hicks’ First Grade November 28, 2016 **Return Blue Reading Folders ** Reminders Benchmark Testing begins December 1st. Please make sure your child has sleep and breakfast. Also, arriving/being at school is important. Thank you! Our Learning This Week:   Sight Words Oral Vocabulary Spelling Math Writing Social Studies Science Homework: Check Binder and Blue Reading Folder   Upcoming Events

Reading Folders 1. Have your child read and answer questions about the enclosed book to you and other family members. 2. Sign the reading log. 3. Return the reading folder with the book to school. 4. A new book will be sent home in the folder upon returning the signed reading log. 5. Have Fun Reading!!! Dear Parents, Your child will have a Reading Folder. This Reading Folder is intended to help your child become a stronger reader! I will be working with your child individually having him/her read the books to me or my EA. Then, I will send home the book your child is working on inside the reading folder. Please listen to your child read the book. Then ask questions about the book. Last, sign the reading log indicating your child has read the book to you. When your child, returns the folder with the signed log, he/she will move onto the next book and bring it home. The pace at which your child moves through the series is totally individual and not as important as improving his/her reading and comprehension. So feel free to take one night or one week to work through each book. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or send a note. Thank you for your support! Happy Reading!!! Ms. Hicks There are rewards for each month reading: 5 Books : a prize out of the Treasure Box 10 Books: a Ticket for the Panda Rewards 15 Books: a Pizza Hut coupon for FREE Personal Pizza I do realize we are in the middle of September. So, for this month only: 3 books treasure box 5 a ticket 2 pizza coupon
