The Rise and Expansion of Rome Essential Question: Using the 6 themes of history, what events, ideas, and people helped expand and shape Rome ? (ie: gov., eco., reli. beliefs, culture, sc.& tech., geo.) The Rise and Expansion of Rome Chapter 2 Lesson 1 Think about what you learned in 6th grade about Rome.

What do you think? Look at the different maps of Rome at different times in history. Infer the story of Rome based on your interpretation of the maps. Create a chart of advantages and disadvantages for each: city, kingdom, republic, and empire

Geography of Rome Look at the map on page 43. How does Rome’s geography impact its civilization?
