B Physics at In relation to SUSY ? 4th Workshop on Mass Origins Fumihiko UKEGAWA CDF Collaboration (University of Tsukuba, Japan) 4th Workshop on Mass Origins and Supersymmetry Physics March 6 – 8, 2006 Epochal Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan

B physics at a hadron collider ?

CDF di-muon triggers Near J/y Wide mass range ~15% from B decays

Bound state of two different heavy quarks c p u d J/y Bc

Run-II Silicon Vertex Trigger : SVT Use silicon information at the 2nd level of trigger Find a track in the main tracker COT. Extrapolate toward the SVX. Find SVX hits along the road. Calculate impact parameter wrt the primary vertex (beam spot). Resolution ~50 mm for > 2 GeV/c. Typical trigger requirement : two tracks above 2 GeV/c, | d | > 120 mm, Lxy > 500 mm.

B signals from CDF SVT triggers : full reconstruction 4800 4900 Understand proper time resolution and flavor tagging

B physics : does the unitarity triangle close?

Kobayashi-Maskawa picture holds good, 2019/4/21 2005 Kobayashi-Maskawa picture holds good, but we are looking for possible discrepancies! www.utfit.org ckmfitter.in2p3.fr

New physics effects on the unitarity triangle ? Now seems unlikely, or looking for a very small discrepancy. Need more precision, but now hit the wall? Still largely untested. BS oscillations crucial. Precise angle g ?

New physics in b  s transition ? Belle : PRL 91, 261602 (2003)

CDF can provide unique tests of b  s (SUSY?)

Summary CDF Run-II has a rich B Physics program Enhanced capabilities : CDF has added silicon-based trigger, enabling to collect all-hadronic final states such as B  D p, Bs  K+K- . Lepton triggers remain valuable, J/y K and l n D. Expect to collect 2.5 fb-1 by end of 2006, and 9 fb-1 by 2009, and to make some significant measurements.
