Today’s Scripture: Matthew 6:5-15 Morning Message: “Teach Us to Pray”

Are our prayers true or false?

Five Standard Jewish Prayers Jesus taught us to pray to Father God: Help us to honor you. Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us the bread we need for today. Forgive us as we forgive others. Save us in the time of trouble and deliver us from the evil one.

“Our Father in heaven.”

our great and loving Father, Creator of us all. “Abba, our great and loving Father, Creator of us all. You rule over all.”

Prayer is not about what we want. Prayer is about what God wants.

“Hallowed be your name.”

Keep us from dishonoring you and embarrassing you “Help us to live so that other people glorify you and crown you as King. Keep us from dishonoring you and embarrassing you by what we do.”

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

“Thank you for your kingdom here on earth. We pray that the movement will grow so that more and more people surrender their lives to you. Rescue them so that they are free to follow the path to life and obey you like your angels do.”

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

“Give us what we need for today. Help us not to take more than we should. Show us how we can help people who don’t have what they need. We all depend on you.”

“Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

“Forgive us for the things that you have against us just as we ourselves have forgiven other people what they owe us and what we have against them.”

“Save us in the time of trouble. Deliver us from evil.”

“Help us overcome our trials. Keep us safe as we resist the devil and evil in ourselves and in the world. Bring us back from defeat. Help us to grow stronger.”

Prayer is not about what It’s about what God wants. we want. It’s about what God wants.

God wants us to honor God not embarrass God. God wants more and more people to be set free to obey God. God wants us to have what we need and to know when we have enough. God wants the forgiveness we’ve been given to lead us to forgive others. God wants us to overcome and grow stronger through our trials.

Abba, our great and loving Father, Creator of us all. You rule over all. 1. Help us to live so that other people glorify you and crown you as King. Keep us from dishonoring you and embarrassing you by what we do. 2. Thank you for your kingdom here on earth. We pray that the movement will grow so that more and more people surrender their lives to you. Rescue them so that they are free to follow the path to life and obey you like your angels do.

3. Give us what we need for today 3. Give us what we need for today. Help us not to take more than we should and show us how we can help people who don’t have what they need. We all depend on you. 4. Forgive us for the things you have against us just as we ourselves have forgiven other people what they owe us and what we have against them. 5. Help us overcome our trials. Keep us safe as we resist the devil and evil in ourselves and in the world. Bring us back from defeat. Help us to grow stronger.
