Quality Review of Courseware on the NEEDS Database Courseware on NEEDS, as with any scholarly effort, requires review to assure quality and provide recognition. The Quality Review of Courseware effort was developed to advance the field of technology-enhanced learning review as well as continually raise-the-bar for excellent courseware. NEEDS has developed and is implementing a comprehensive, tiered peer review including: non-reviewed, endorsed, and premier courseware. In addition to the three areas already in operation, we are developing two new forms of review that go hand in hand with the development of our on-line engineering education community. Establish Credibility of NEEDS as a Source of Quality Educational Material Enhance Recognition of Scholarly and Creative Effort of Courseware Developers Levels of Review Non-reviewed Gestalt Peer Review: Endorsed Courseware National Competition: Premier Courseware User Reviews: User experiences with courseware, contributed by community members Feature Reviews: Extended reviews on NEEDS that highlight courseware New!

Premier Award Criteria See the previous page for additional information. See http://www.needs.org/premier/1998/criteria.html for more info Engineering Content Is the content error free? Software Design Is it well designed and usable? Instructional Design Will students learn from the courseware? We recognize that all the categories are interwoven.

Evaluation Criteria Engineering Content: Software Design: Premier Award Criteria (cont.) See the previous page for additional information.
