What does this symbol mean?

It is looks like this because this symbol is rarely used. It is a symbol which we usually name “A dog” and which we use between the name of the user and the domen. It is looks like this because this symbol is rarely used.

Who invented it? RAY TOMPLINSON – a leading engineer of the BBN Technology company.

How does the first message look like? The first program for sending messages consisted of 200 lines of the programmer code and used not in the INTERNET but in the military APRA NET.

What are the advantages of E-mails? Today in the electronic envelope we can put not only the text itself but the photo, the sound and even the video. To have such free of charge E-mail you need only Internet

What is the result of inventing of E-mails? There are already about billion of E-mails registered now and their number is rapidly increased. Only in Russia there are more than 15 millions of people have their own “electronics dogs”. Many people say that the inventing of E-mails is the main invention of the XX century.

The rules of effective writing of messages Never use a metaphor, simile or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print. Never use a long word when a short one will do. If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out. Never use the passive where you can use the active. Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent. Break any of these rules sooner than saying anything outright barbarous.

What is wrong with this message? Brian de Glanville, 11:35am E-MALL FOR MR ADEBAYO My dear Mr Adebayo I was informed earlier today by your colleague, Jane Rodber, that your company is now ready to consider our proposal. It goes without saying that I am delighted to hear this news. However, I will be on vacation in Berlin for the next four days and so, regrettably, during this period I will not be available to attend personally to any queries that you may have. Notwithstanding the above, you will be telephoned by my secretary to arrange a little ‘rendezvous’ after my return, when I hope this matter can be discussed further. May I say that I very much look forward to meeting you. With best wishes, Brian de Glanville
