MALDI-TOF imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) for prioritization of m/z signals. MALDI-TOF imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) for prioritization of m/z signals. Imaging performed on bacterial and fungal cultures allowed visualization of m/z distribution across the sample. Upregulation of m/z 655 was observed when Penicillium sp. 12 and G. arilaitensis were grown together on cheese curd agar plates and appears to be localized in bacterial colonies. Isotopes of zinc coproporphyrin III (716.2 through 721.2) also appear to be upregulated under coculture conditions. Jessica L. Cleary et al. mSystems 2018; doi:10.1128/mSystems.00036-18
