Presentation transcript:

Streamlining and coherence of reporting obligations WFD reporting Articles 3, 5, 8 and 15 Reporting under Directive 91/692/EEC and Commission Decision 95/337/EEC 1978 Fish Water Directive 1979/2006 Shellfish Water Directive 1980 Groundwater Directive 1976 Dangerous Substances Directive and five Daughter Directives 1981-1986 These Directive remain in force until 2013, and with them the relevant reporting obligations.

Streamlining and coherence of reporting obligations Scope of reporting obligations Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC Directive 78/659/EEC 2006/44/EC 80/68/EEC 76/464/EEC Daughter Directives to 76/464/EEC Next reporting cycle under Directive 91/692/EEC to start 1.1.2008, for the years 2008-2009-2010

Streamlining and coherence of reporting obligations Envisaged line for streamlining Identical to the line in the Priority Substances Directive Proposal, article 8(2) By inserting, at the end of each of the relevant questionnaires, the line “Transitional arrangements: Before 22 December 2013, Member States may carry out monitoring and reporting in accordance with articles 5, 8 and 15 of Directive 2000/60/EC instead of carrying them out in accordance with the above provisions.”  Change envisaged under Comitology, however not the WFD Committee, but the Committee under Directive 91/692/EEC.

Streamlining and coherence of reporting obligations Committee meeting 7 June 2007 Committee under Directive 91/692/EEC Directive 91/692/EEC, and consequently its Committee, cover horizontally a range of reporting obligations, not only in the water sector. For ‘water’ issues, this Committee has for the last time been convoked 12 years ago, in 1995. Please inform your colleague/services responsible for this Directive 91/692/EEC and its Committee about the issue. Room document available.
