Creating Informative Presentation launch PowerPoint save new file Ctrl + N Ctrl + S save as ppt_test in your powerpoint folder
Choose a Slide Design on Design tab select a theme can change later if need be
Why Use a Slide Design? increases professionalism consistent uses eye-pleasing, contrasting colors
Begin Presentation Identify purpose: today’s assignment is to create a slide show about yourself
Title Slide Components creative & descriptive choose your own title Subtitle name teacher class due date
Adding Title to New Slide insert new slide Ctrl + M click to add title “My Statistics”
Creating Bullet Point Items type name label hit Enter hit Tab type your name
Decreasing Indent Shift + tab or click Decrease List Level icon moves cursor back to left or click Decrease List Level icon on Home tab
Completing Bullet Point Items type age label hit Enter hit Tab type your age decrease indent complete year in school info
Adding Title to New Slide insert new slide Ctrl + Enter click to add title “My Hobbies”
Changing Slide Layout on Home tab choose a layout click Layout icon Two Content
Adding Text click to add text list 5 hobbies choose your own
Rules for Adding Text limit amount of info per slide use 5 by 5 Rule* 5 or less words per line 5 or less lines per slide * may violate rule slightly if need to be reasonable
More Rules for Adding Text "Bullet Point" your information no complete sentences eliminate unimportant words Example: Play Drums vs. I like to play the drums.
Rules for Images limit number of images on slide keep it simple one image at a time use only when appropriate do not detract from presentation
Inserting Images in the content box click Clip Art icon bottom row, middle column
Searching for Clip Art enter hobby in "Search for:" box Results should be: ClipArt click Go
Choosing Clip Art choose image Click first image any image will do to start change later if have time Click first image resize from corner only
Adding More Images Insert tab Clip Art icon toggles panel

Continue Adding Images repeat previous steps for third hobby don’t worry too much about size or placement we will format soon too many images? we’ll fix that soon
Finding Images on Internet go to Google click Images enter fourth hobby click Search Images WARNING! Some material may be inappropriate for school. Use common sense. Do not lose tech privileges.
Viewing Image Full-Size click a thumbnail image click See full-size image.
Saving the Image right-click image Save Picture As save file your directory powerpoint folder meaningful name
Inserting Image from File Insert tab > Picture icon locate file double-click to insert resize from corner only
Finish Images as time allows: you are ready to move to next lesson add a few more hobbies add more images you are ready to move to next lesson
