The Skeletal System Time to “Bone-Up” on a Few Things!

What is the Skeletal System? Your skeletal system protects your organs. It keeps you standing up. Your bones are a blood factory. Your blood cells are made in your bone marrow. Your bones help you move.

Let’s Look !

What are the parts of the skeletal system? The skeletal system contains: all the bones joints cartilage ligaments

Bones There are 206 bones in the body. Bones have four purposes: some give our body structure. some protect the rest of our body. blood cells are made inside our bones bones help us move

There are two different kinds of joints: movable and immovable

The movable joints are: ball and socket (like your shoulder) hinge (like your wrist) gliding (like your vertebrae) and pivot (like your neck).

An immovable joint is the skull. Joints are where your bones meet.

How Are Bones Held Together?

Cartilage Cartilage is bendable- not hard like bones. It can be found in many parts of your body. It is found in-between bones so they don’t rub together.

Ligaments Ligaments hold organs of the body in place They also fasten bones together They are as strong as a rope
