Identify your Needs Lack of Funds Solving Long-Term Problems SRTS Regional Stormwater Study Solving Long-Term Problems Flooding Transportation (STP Partnership) Enhancing Your Community Boy Scouts (Miner’s Memorial)

Identify Stakeholders School District Drainage & Levee District Property Owners Developers Other Municipalities, Townships & Counties Fire Protection District Others

SRTS Need: Safe sidewalks and bike paths for students to and from school Stakeholders: CCUSD#1 School District, Coal City, Carbon Hill and Diamond Solution: Safe Routes to School SRTS Grant $250,000 awarded and sidewalks and bike paths were constructed in all three communities

IKE Need: Regional Stormwater Drainage Study Stakeholders: Diamond, Coal City, Carbon Hill, multiple townships, two drainage districts and Grundy County Solution: Ike Planning Grant Grundy County submitted the IKE Planning Grant with support letters from all stakeholders $250,000 awarded and the Claypool and Maine Township Regional Stormwater Drainage Study along with an update to the Grundy County Comprehensive Plan was completed with all partners receiving a copy of the study. Diamond has adopted the study

Neighborhood Flooding Need: Solve long-term major flooding in two neighborhoods Stakeholders: Diamond, Coal City, 2 developers and drainage district Stakeholders: Diamond, developer and drainage district Solution: Each partner completed their portion of the work at their own expense, both problems were solved

STP Need: Intersection and roadway improvements at IL 113 & Will Road to encourage economic development Stakeholders: 8 property owners & developers and Diamond Solution: Surface Transportation Program (STP) Grant $1M grant, $250,000 local match provided by property owners and developers 4 developers provided an additional $750,000 and Village added funds to expand the project $1M awarded and $2.1M improvement constructed

Memorial Improvements Need: Miner’s Memorial in need of repair Stakeholders: Diamond, businesses, residents, including Boy Scouts Solution: Eagle Scout Project

Conclusion These are just a few examples of successful partnership Partnership opportunities are endless You will be surprised how eager others will be to partner with you once you have proven that you are able to get the job done. We are now working on our STP2 partnership.
