Attendance It is important for our 3rd graders to be in class and on time each day – 7:25 cut off for Cafeteria. 7:30 is the tardy bell. Our school has the opportunity to receive a state distinction this year if we all focus on attendance together. Giving work out ahead of time is against the grading policy. Work can be made up based on days missed. Carrie

Curriculum Highlights – Math Place Value, Fractions, Addition and Subtraction Multiplication and Division Geometry and Measurement Algebraic Reasoning and Problem-Solving Data Analysis and Personal Finance Math 4 Today and Practice Our Problem Solving (POPS) will be completed daily. On Thursdays, your child will bring home their Math 4 Today/POPS for the week to review for Friday’s Checkpoint. Please review this paper with your child and sign it, and your child will earn Champ Change the next day. Shelly

Curriculum Highlights – Reading Students are expected to move from “Learning to Read” to “Reading to Learn” Active reader, inferencing, summary, context clues, cause & effect, character traits, main idea, drawing conclusions, non-fiction text features, sensory language, sequencing, and drama. Comprehension is key! The students are working on thinking about their thinking. Bailey

Field Trips & Volunteers Please make sure that you are DPS cleared for any field trips or any other volunteer opportunities. This needs to be updated yearly. You may go to the NEISD website to fill out the required paperwork. We plan on attending at least 2 field trips this year. Stay tuned for more information! Volunteer Lists for each classroom are available – if you are interested in Room Parent or helping in any way please sign up tonight with your child’s teacher. Andrew

Snacks & Birthdays Students are encouraged to bring working, simple healthy snacks and a water bottle each day. Birthday treats should be prearranged with the teacher and are served at 2:10 PM. Only pre-packaged single servings of cupcakes/cookies/donuts (and napkins please). Drinks, balloons, treat bags are not allowed; please do not send these items. Please make sure you inform your teacher if your snack contains nuts or nut products in consideration of the students who may have nut allergies. Birthday invitations may only be passed out to the entire class. All girls or all boys for invites. Kelli

Dismissal Procedures Parents that walk up to the school to pick up their child will wait in the designated area until their child is dismissed by a third grade teacher. The students will be waiting in the area right by the potted plants before the bridge into the building. The teacher will send your student to you. Please let us know before 1:00pm how your child is to go home if there is a change. Please call the office to make this change. Do not send an email, as we may not check it in time. Kelli

Homework Since we are a green school, homework will be posted each Friday on teacher web pages and will be due the following Friday. Fill out the reading logs (in agenda) each night. Reading logs will be checked by the teacher each Friday. Additional homework may be sent home on occasion. Andrew

Seven Habits Monthly Synergy Rallies Leadership Binder Family Night - coming in October! Parent teacher conference dates – Nov. 1st & 2nd sign up genius Student led in Spring Bailey

NEISD Grading Policy Students will be given one opportunity to redo/retake any assignment or test in which they score 69% or below. The highest grade a student can earn on any retake is 70%. Extra Credit work will not be given. Missed work will be given upon return. Renee

NEISD Policy Consent to Share There is a form to sign that will allow us to share educational information with another adult/guardian without the custodial parent being present. You can get this form in the office. Renee

Expectations Graded Work Binders: Binders will serve as a portfolio of all graded work and will be sent home each week. Please leave all graded papers in your child’s binder. Please sign the graded work binder each week. Agendas: Agendas are used to communicate what is being worked on daily, record reflections and goals, as well as reading log. Agendas should be initialed weekly in the Daily Agenda tab. (If your child does not have an agenda yet, they can be purchased for $8.00) Shelly
