Qualifications for the Job 2 Qualifications for the Job Suitability for the specific job is judged on the basis of: Academic preparation Work experience Job-related personality traits The interviewer will be seeking someone with the flexibility to apply diverse skills in several areas.

Preparing for a Job Interview 3 Preparing for a Job Interview preparation is mandatory. Think about the job itself and prepare. Base your approach on what you audience expects. (1) Learn about the organization. (2) Think ahead about questions. (3) Bolster your confidence. (4) Polish you interview style. (5) Plan to look good. (6) Be ready when you arrive.

Learn About the Organization 4 Learn About the Organization Today’s companies expect serious candidates to demonstrate an understanding of the company’s operations, its market, and its strategic and tactical problems.

Planning for a Successful Interview 5 Planning for a Successful Interview Think Ahead about Questions 1. What was the toughest decision you ever had to make? 2. 10 During interview Psychologists say that 50 percent of an interview’s decision is made within the first 30 to 60 seconds. Another 25 percent is made within 15 minutes.

15 Thank-you Messages Write a thank-you letter within two days of the interview (keeping it to one page). If you have no alternative, thank the interviewer by phone (in less than five minutes). In the opening, express thanks and identify the job and the time and place of the interview. Use the middle section for supporting details. Express your enthusiasm about the organization and the job. Add any new facts that may help your chances. Try to repair any negative impression s you may have left during the interview. Use an action ending. B. Inquiries 1. Make an inquiry-by letter, phone, or mail-if you aren’t informed of the decision by the promised date. 2. Follow the plan for direct request: main idea, necessary details, specific request.

State clearly that you accept the offer, identify the job you’re accepting, and include vital details. 3. Conclude with a statement that you look forward to reporting for work. E. Letters rejecting job offer. 1. Open a letter of rejection warmly. 2. Explain why you are refusing the offer, and express your appreciation. 3. End on a sincere, positive note.
