I am a Science STAR (Sense, Think, Act, Reflect) due Thursday, 9/1/11 My name I picked 4 (four) pictures in this PowerPoint and deleted the rest (I kept this first page) Sensing: I made a quantitative (number) and qualitative (like/comparing) observation (just the facts) Thinking: I made an inference (told a story about what was happening in the picture) Acting: I made a prediction (future thinking) about what might happen next. Reflecting: I thought about my thinking—why do I think about this picture the way I do? I used complete sentences to explain my sensing, thinking, acting, and reflecting.

STAR (Sense, Think, Act, Reflect) Sense: make a qualitative (like/compare) and quantitative (number) observation Think: make an inference (observation + what I already know) Act: make a prediction about what might happen (inference + future thinking) Reflect: Why did I make the prediction I made?

STAR (Sense, Think, Act, Reflect) for example . . . Sense: I see 1 bird. It is black with a red spot on its wing. I see what looks like smoke. I see 3 puffs of smoke. Think: I think it must be cold and the bird is singing. I think the bird is a red-winged blackbird. Act: I predict the bird will fly south because it is cold. Reflect: I know that when it is cold my breath looks like smoke. I know it must be winter because there are no leaves on the branch.
