Abominations: Part 3 Some trends to avoid:

Abomination Trends Proverbs 26: 18-28; As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport? Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth. As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart. Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation. Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him. A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

Abomination Trends Proverbs 26: 25; When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

Abomination Trends I. There are some trends in abominations. Proverbs 6: 12-15; [12] A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. [13] He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; [14] Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. [15] Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

Abomination Trends Proverbs 11: 20; They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

Abomination Trends Proverbs 6: 16-23; [16] These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: [17] A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, [18] An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, [19] A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. [20] My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: [21] Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. [22] When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. [23] For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Abomination Trends A. Pride: Proverbs 16: 5; Luke 16: 15; Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. Luke 16: 15; And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Abomination Trends B. Lying: Proverbs 12: 22; Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight. C. Hands that shed innocent blood: D. Wicked Imaginations;

Abomination Trends Genesis 6: 5-7; [5] And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [6] And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. [7] And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Abomination Trends II. God will send Judgment for committing abominations! A. They neglected the blessings of God; Jeremiah 2: 7; And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.

Abomination Trends B. They neglected the house of God; Jeremiah 7: 10; And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?

Abomination Trends C. They neglected their conscience; Jeremiah 8: 12; Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

Abomination Trends D. They neglected the Word of God; Jeremiah 13: 27; I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

Abomination Trends E. They neglected the warning of God’s Judgment; Ezekiel 7: 3-4; Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations. [4] And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Abomination Trends F. God’s Judgment is eminent! Ezekiel 7: 8-9; [8] Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations. [9] And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.

Abomination Trends G. A remnant will be spared to witness the truths of God’s Word! Ezekiel 12: 16; But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Abomination Trends III. Conclusion: Correction of abomination; A. True Repentance; (Turn or burn!) Ezekiel 14: 6; Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

Abomination Trends B. True Prayer; Proverbs 28: 9; He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Abomination Trends C. True Worship; Proverbs 21: 27; The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

Abomination Trends IV. Results: Ye shall not be moved! Jeremiah 4: 1; If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
