Conclusion: This image validates women that are not in jail, marginalizes women in jail, reifies women that have not made these poor choices, and silences women (families of women) that have been or are in jail/prison. It sends the message that jail is a sad, boring place for bad women. I see this image and view women that are sad. They are thinking about their future and what may come next in their lives. The latino woman in the dress, is in the psychiatric ward and may have a shorter sentence. The woman in gray probably has the shortest sentence.
