Papyrus Washington Art Smart Grade 5

Papyrus was the main writing surface used by the Egyptians Papyrus was the main writing surface used by the Egyptians. It was invented very early on in Egypt's history. Examples have survived from the 1st Dynasty (3100-2890 B.C.) and it was used continuously until the 11th century A.D. Papyrus was also used in the ancient civilizations of Kush, Greece and Rome.

Papyrus Plant Was plentiful along the Nile Revolutionized how information was saved Egypt’s greatest export Papyrus was also used to make mattresses on beds, for building chairs, tables, and other furniture. It was used to make mats, baskets, boxes, sandals, utensils, rope and boats. The papyrus root was a source of food, medicine and perfume.
