The Purpose of the School Governance Council is… The purpose of the Council is to enable parents, school, staff, students (where appropriate) and community leaders to work together to improve student achievement in schools. School Governance Councils serve in an advisory capacity to assist school administrators.

School, Family and Community Partnerships “Schools, families and communities all contribute to student success and the best results come when all three work together.” CSBE Position Statement on School-Family-Community Partnerships

Membership and Selection Process Number Process Parents or Guardians 7 Elected by the parents of guardians of students attending the school Each household with a student attending the school will have one vote Teachers of the school 5 Elected by the teachers of the school Community Leaders 2 Elected by the parent/guardian members and teacher members of they Council School Principal and/or Designee 1 Principal may name designee

Council Responsibilities: Council may advise the school administration in these areas: Analyze school achievement data and school needs as they apply to the school improvement plan; Review fiscal objectives of the school’s draft budget; Participate in the hiring process of the school principal or other administrators of the school by conducting interviews of candidates and reporting on such interviews to the superintendent and the local school board; Assist the principal in making program and/or operational changes to improve the schools achievement; Develop and approve a written school parent involvement policy that outlines the roles of parents and guardians; Collaborate with the school administrator in developing and approving a school-parent compact for parents, legal guardians and students that outlines ways families and school personnel may build a partnership to improve student learning; Work together with the principal to develop, conduct and report the results of an annual survey or parents, guardians and teachers on issues related to the school climate and conditions.

School Governance Councils do not… Manage a School Supervise staff Enter into contracts or purchasing agreements Discuss individual issues between teachers, students and/or parents. Determine student eligibility for school admission or programs Determine class allocations or student assignments

Jeannine Fundraiser Our community sold over $5,000.00 in products. Our school earns 40% of the profits! That is over $2,000.00. The proceeds will be added to our Student Accounts funds that supports our academic based and extra-curricular activities. A notice will go home announcing the arrival date for pick up of goods.

Together We’re Better You are an important part of your child’s education! Stay connected! Please look for important notices and homework assignments sent home each Monday. We are making every effort to keep you informed. Please return notices in a timely manner and homework each Friday. Principal Ciccomascolo will discuss the Updated School Compact: Postcards…A friendly note about something special your child did. Parent/Guardian Award…All students will participate in nominating a loved one for modeling a positive character trait. You could be the recipient of that award! Stay tuned…. Silver Wolves Celebrations There has been a change in format. Each teacher will make a short speech acknowledging a student for that months character trait. There will be a grade level and student centered activity to model that months character trait. Announcement of RAPPERS
