Overview Uniform Healthy Eating and Allergies The Curriculum Assessment for Learning Homework Other Information

Uniform General High standard, very well presented, promotes image of school. Please label all clothing. If your child isn’t wearing the appropriate uniform please let us know why. No rings, bracelets, chains or hoops for health & safety reasons – nomination bracelets!! Physical Education - Due to issues with changing and supervision, wear PE uniform on PE days.

Healthy Eating and Allergies Healthy Eating Policy - Healthy snacks for break and lunch. Please avoid crisps, fizzy drinks, chocolate bars etc. for breaks Nut and Fish Allergies - Be conscious that several pupils in the school experience allergy issues. Dinners £2.60 per day. Please try and pay for your child’s dinner(s) on a Monday if possible using ParentPay.

Curriculum Communication Using Maths World Around Us The Arts - Reading - Writing - Talking & Listening - Linguistic phonics Using Maths -Written, Mental, Problem Solving and Practical Activities. - There are excellent resources on the school website. World Around Us - Topic based: Term 1 –The Vikings. Term 2 – Fairtrade Term3 – Forces and Moneywise. The Arts - Art & Design, Music, Drama.

Assessment for Learning In Class Assessments - Monday/Friday tests – spellings and tables. - Continual monitoring of progress with positive, constructive feedback to pupils including targets. - Pupil self-assessment ‘traffic light system’ Formal Assessments - CAT4, PTE, PTM and NGRT testing in May. We’ll provide you with scores and breakdown at October Meeting - Termly assessments - End of year assessments: - English - Reading - Maths - Mental Maths Transfer meeting in Summer Term.

Homework Monday to Thursday. Used to consolidate class learning. Communication and Maths homework. Reading every night, spellings and mental maths. Please sign your child’s homework daily.

Arriving at school School begins at 09:00. Parents should ensure children arrive punctually. Supervision begins at 08:45. Parents wishing to leave children before this time are asked to use Sleepy Hollow or the Breakfast Club. Parents may use the ‘drop off zone’ in the car park. Children must alight from the vehicle from the passenger side.

Arriving at school When the bell rings children are expected to line up quietly in the playground and will be escorted to class by teachers. On wet days P1 and P2 pupils should go straight to their classrooms. On wet days P3-P7 children should go straight to the Assembly Hall. No child should enter a classroom in the morning, at break or lunch, without permission. No child is permitted to leave the playground/school grounds, without permission For reasons of safeguarding parents should not enter the school building before 9am. If you require assistance please contact the school office.

Pupils arriving late Parents should accompany their child to the office via Holland Drive Entrance as all doors are locked from 09.10. School staff will accompany P1 and P2 children to their classroom, pupils in P3-7 may walk to their own classroom.

Leaving the school School finishes at 14:05 for P1-3 classes and 15:05 for P4-7 classes. All classes are escorted to the appointed exit by school staff. Parents and carers are asked to collect children promptly at the end of the school day. Those children attending Sleepy Hollow or after school clubs must proceed to agreed area. Pupils should be aware of who is collecting them each day.

Leaving the school Parents should inform the school if a new arrangement has been made for collection. Parents/carers should remain outside the gates of the playground before 14:00 & between 14:10 and 15:00 to facilitate outdoor lessons. To facilitate after school clubs, parents should exit the playground promptly after collecting their child. All children should return to the school office if they are not collected. Pupils attending after school clubs must remain with the adult responsible for the activity until collected.

Other Information Mobile Phones Vetting Forms - No longer required for assisting with supervision on educational trips. Contact/ Medical Information - Ensure the office has up to date information & medication Attendance & Punctuality - Ensure good punctuality and inform the school of any absences. Mobile Phones Only if necessary and must be given to teacher at 9.00am (switched off), returned at home time. Must be accompanied with a note explaining why it is required. Strongly discouraged at this point in primary school

Transfer Specific Preparation Starts after Easter when curriculum has been sufficiently covered Test every week to familiarise the pupils with format Range of GL & AQE papers May move to twice a week in the Summer Term We are constantly tailoring lessons and content towards the transfer tests at this early stage Our objective is to have the children as conscientiously prepared as possible
