Newton’s 2nd Law Investigation Period 1 Physical Science March 2, 2017 Page 1 of 4

Include the following: Design an Investigation to test Newton’s 2nd Law. Write detailed steps for how to conduct your investigation List equipment & materials you will need Decide on jobs for each person Identify Independent variable(s) and dependent variable(s). Generate a data table(s) that includes independent variable and dependent variable results. Input data into a Google Sheet and create a chart. Page 2 of 4

Report outline: Produce an Evidence Report in a Google Doc and include the following: Title, Names, and Date Investigation Question Hypothesis or Prediction Detailed Materials List Detailed steps on how to conduct Investigation (call it “Investigation Procedure”) Identify Independent and Dependent Variables Data table showing Independent V. & Dependent V. results and a chart Conclusion with a statement of whether or not your hypothesis/prediction was correct. A clear Evidence Statement that supports your Conclusion. Page 3 of 4

MODIFYING YOUR Investigation: Answer or complete the following: What are you trying to solve or what is your Investigation Question? What variable are you manipulating and how many times are you changing it (this is your Independent Variable)? What result do you predict when you manipulate your independent variable (this is your Dependent Variable)? These predicted result(s) or outcome is also your Hypothesis or Prediction. Write it down. What things will you keep the same throughout your investigation? This is your Control. Investigation Procedure: Verbally list steps to conduct your investigation then write steps down. Include the number of trials needed for each manipulated change. More trials increases accuracy of your results. Prepare and label your Data Table so you can record your results during your investigation. Label one column Independent Variable and the other Dependent Variable. Page 4 of 4
