This work was funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations under the School Languages Programme Languages Open the Door to a Bigger World Information for Students I want to find out as much as I can about other people. Is that you? What do kids who can speak another language say about meeting people from another culture? Meeting people with different perspectives on life – with different values – different traditions. Its fantastic. You start to think about all sorts of things that you wouldnt otherwise. Getting a good look at other cultures, and you can only do this by speaking the language, at least a bit, you start to think about your own country and background and why they are like they are. You dont realise that even the most basic things can be different.
