What is Social Media? Tools and applications that help collaboration and communication on the internet. Eg. Blogs, wikis, virtual game worlds Common applications: Youtube, twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn

SM Virtues Easy connectability Joint sharing and constructing knowledge Can help enable problem based learning and a constructivist approach to learning

SM - Vices Learning is different to entertainment Plethora of information, tools and approaches (can be overwhelming) Upscaling teaching operations not automatic Reduced attention spans Addiction and social disorders
