Translations day 2 Today we are going to learn how to PARTITION a line segment into any ratio, ALGEBRAICALLY

VOCAB: DIRECTED Line segment

STEP 1 Add the 2 numbers in the ratio

Step 2 Find the Translation that maps point R onto point S.

STEP 3 Now take that translation and split apart the 2 #’s. Multiply each of those numbers by the 1st # in the ratio over the sum of the 2#’s in the ratio

STEP 4 This gives you a NEW TRANSLATION RULE that we are going to use to find out the coordinates of point Q.
