Statistics Project on Paul Pierce

Background Information: Born October 13th 1977 Weighs 235 lbs 6’ 7” tall University of Kansas 9 years playing Pro-Basketball Celtics

Career Season Averages (Points per Game) 02-03>25. 9 03-04>23.0 04-05>21.6 05-06>26.8 06-07>25.0

The average of a group of numbers. Mean: The average of a group of numbers. 24.46

Median: The middle number of a group of numbers that have been arranged in order by size. If there is a even number of terms, the median is the mean of the two middle numbers. 21.6, 23.0, 25.0, 25.9, 26.8

The number that occurs most frequently in a set of numbers. Mode: The number that occurs most frequently in a set of numbers. 21.6, 23.0, 25.0, 25.9,26.8 =None

Range: The difference between the lowest and highest valued number in a set of numbers. 26.8-21.6 =5.2

25.9------23.0------21.6------26.8------25.0 Prediction In the year 2008 I predict that Paul Pierces Points per Game (Career Season Avg.) will be around 24. The way I made this prediction was charting Paul Pierces averages over the past 5 years, my chart looked like this: 25.9------23.0------21.6------26.8------25.0 -2.9 -1.4 +5.2 -1.8 The chart represented the points that he gained or lost between the years. The minus sign meaning a loss of that number and the addition sign meaning the gain of that number. Paul Pierce seems to have a history of losses and I think that it is more likely that he has another loss than gain. However there is always a possibility that he could earn more points.
