Welcome to the UK Presidency from July to December 2005!

Objectives during the Presidency - UK Taking forward the EU agenda in an efficient, business-like and effective way Joined up Government Better Regulation (part of the broader Lisbon Agenda on good governance and sustainable development) with emphasis on consultation and rigorous impact assessment, including a competitiveness test and a greater awareness and use of alternatives.

Objectives during the Presidency - Departmental Introducing others to the UK’s broad experience and expertise in improving public administrations Highlighting the importance of the customer with an emphasis on personalisation and choice To agree new e-government policies at the Commission/UK e-government conference in November. Pursuing new work on innovative methods and ideas in Human Resource Management.

Objectives during the Presidency - IPSG To take forward the work of the Luxembourg team in finalising, agreeing and moving ahead with the Mid- Term Programme of activity. To facilitate and encourage the further development of existing IPSG work on Benchmarking, Knowledge Management, Learning Labs, the websites and CAF. To lead the work on investigating a European approach to measuring customer satisfaction including hosting an expert meeting.

Objectives during the Presidency - IPSG To undertake a thorough review of Quality Conferences. To be business-like and efficient, making good use of electronic as well as face-to-face meetings to push our work forward. To ensure a smooth handover to our Austrian colleagues and finally… Look out for a “different style” DG meeting in December!
