Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Project Areas

Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Project Areas Astronomy Computers Robotics Rocketry Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)

SpaceTech Astronomy Focuses on things outside of Earth’s atmosphere, like the planets, the sun, the Milky Way Galaxy, black holes, and things like that Typical projects: Telescopes Posters Notebooks

SpaceTech Computers Focuses on computer technology, how they talk to each other (networking), how to program them, and how we get them to interact. Typical projects: Websites Scratch projects (https://scratch.mit.edu/) Virtual Machines Video Games Micro Controlled systems (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, CHIP PCs, etc. )

SpaceTech Robotics Focuses on how we automate things (make things do stuff for us). Typically though of as robots Typical projects: Lego Mind Storms (EV3 and NXT) Pop Can Robots Junk drawer robots (simple machines) Robotic arms (water and electric) NVIDIA Jetbot (for advanced youth) (https://github.com/NVIDIA-AI- IOT/jetbot)

SpaceTech Rocketry Focuses on how to build and fly rockets, it all comes down to Newton's laws of motion. Typical projects: Big rockets Small rockets Scratch Built Rockets Educational displays

SpaceTech UAS Focuses on using Unmanned Aerial Systems to enhance our lives Typical projects: Scratch built “drones” Aerial field surveys Site exploration Aerial acrobatics Pasture management Educational displays *No gliders don’t count as UAS exhibits
