04-18 Knox Box Key

04-18 Knox Box System Knox box is a system that will allow Fire Company access to keys or access codes for nondestructive entry into a secured building. All Brunswick Fire Company No. 1 vehicles hold a secured Knox Box Key.

Knox Box Key Holder

Knox Box

04-18 Knox Box System The procedure for releasing a Knox Box key is as follows: Call Dispatch on 3-1 and request activation of Knox Box key release for apparatus or vehicle that you responded with to the scene. Place microphone back into holder, switch radio to 3-15 and await flashing green light. (Note: Radio must be out of scan mode.)

04-18 Knox Box System Once green light is flashing turn Knox key left and pull out. For new models the Blue Light will flash when key is removed. Notify dispatch on 3-1 that the Knox Box key has been released.

04-18 Knox Box System Upon completion return Knox box key to holder and turn right. Call dispatch on 3-1 and advise that Knox box key is secured. For new models the Blue Light will stop flashing when key is replaced.

04-18 Knox Box System Knox box keys will be verified monthly and noted on drill attendance sheet. Also a check off box will be marked when used at a scene of a drill or incident on the respective sheets. Security of the Knox box keys is essential to maintain program credibility.

04-18 Knox Box System Any missing, damaged Knox keys or Knox box shall be reported to the Chief’s Office IMMEDIATELY! Each key will have a tag with it, showing you what apparatus or vehicle it belongs to. Knox boxes within our Fire Protection District will be inventoried every six months and entered into Firehouse software as such.
