JUNE DATES Thursday, June 21 - Mandatory Grad Ceremony Rehearsal and lunch at CLA – 10 am Thursday, June 21 – Grad Walk – 12 pm – 1:30 pm Thursday, June 21 - Grad Ceremony at CLA 7:00 (Grads there by 6 pm. Guests must be seated by 6:45 – doors open at 6:15) Friday, June 22 - Grad Dinner/Dance at Coast Hotel, Langley – 6:30 pm Dinner; grads there by 5:30 pm for group photo

Are You “Walking the Stage?” “in a position to graduate…” 80 credits (48 credits for required courses, 28 elective credits, and 4 credits for Graduation Transitions). 16 of these credits must be at the grade 12 level. Any courses in progress outside of Langley Secondary, must be 80% complete with a passing grade as of May 1 Any courses in progress at Langley Secondary must have a passing or near passing grade as of May 1st Graduation Transitions 12 must be complete by May 1st

DETAILS: GRAD Fees ($60)/ Student Fees ($25) Students’ grad and student fees must be paid prior to receiving/purchasing tickets for the Graduation Ceremony or the Graduation Dinner & Dance. Grad Ceremony Ticket Information 3 free tickets in the week of May 14 additional tickets? need to submit form to the office BY May 11 Additional tickets are $10/each

Schedule for June 21, 2018 10:00-1:30 MANDATORY Rehearsal for all Graduates at Christian Life Assembly (includes lunch) 6:00 pm ALL graduates must be at CLA in the gym 6:15 pm Doors open to guests with tickets 6:45 pm GUESTS must be seated 7:00 pm Ceremony Begins Gowns and stoles returned at the end; caps and tassels are yours to keep

Grad Banquet – June 22, 2018 Coast Hotel, Langley Students must arrive at venue by 5:30 for a group photo Student and Guest (Including Parents) Tickets: $65 per person We have a commitment to fill seats for dinner first. If we reach our commitment we will release tickets to parents for dessert/coffee only ($15 each). Tickets will go on sale 2nd week of May. Banquet tables are arranged with 10 seats. Guests not from LSS must be pre-approved

Grad Transitions Interviews

Why do I have to do this? A plan for after LSS BC Graduation requirement

Who has to do this? Everyone! But AVID will be done with their classes Students who have taken and ITA program (eg. Piping and Plumbing) Students doing an adult grad (you will know if this is you).

When is my interview? Tuesday April 10 or Thursday April 12 Schedule will be posted Friday morning If there is a conflict Mr. Howlett can be contacted via email: jhowlett@sd35.bc.ca Or in person Friday at lunch in the castle lobby

Who are the interviewers? LSS and District Staff

When do I find out who is interviewing me? When you have your interview! Can I request an interviewer? No, sorry!

Where is the interview and how long will it be? In the library ~15 minutes

What other information to I need to know? Arrive 10 minutes before Dress for an interview Bring one or more artifacts

What is an Artifact? Each student is responsible for bringing an item(s), something that demonstrates a passion they have that is relevant to their journey through and/or beyond secondary school. Some examples include: Photos A project that you are proud of Artwork A video Musical instrument Sports equipment

Example: Lifeguard Uniform Lead me towards two different career paths Rescue – Policing Swim Instructing – Teaching My plan is attend Kwantlen and begin pursuing a teachable degree. Then transfer to SFU or UBC Once my BA is complete Apply to Education at UBC and SFU AND apply to the RCMP

What are you plans for after graduation? I am going to work… For this company because… I would like to back to school in the future, possibly studying _________ at ____________ school. What are you plans for after graduation? I am going to go to school I have a scholarship I have been admitted to _____ school for ______ program While I post-secondary, I am hoping to get training for ________ profession But I do not know what I want to do with my life I am going to take ______________ I hope will find something that interests me I will be working at _________ while I go to school.

How are you going to pay for your education? I have won ___________ scholarship(s) My parents have saved the money Student loan Etc.

What’s your backup plan? What if you get laid off from your job? What if you get tired of that job? What if you hate the program you are in at school? What if you don’t find your passion at school?

Where do you see yourself in the next five years? What will you have accomplished? Why have you chosen this path? What will you do to ensure that you reach your goals?

Other questions What are your interests? What is your proudest accomplishment? What are your weaknesses? What are your strengths? Think of a defining moment in your life (either positive or negative) and explain how it has impacted you and what you have learned from it. What courses have you taken (at school or extra- curricular) that have proved the most beneficial to you?

How do I prepare for this interview? Go through the questions Be able to speak to each one for 2-3 minutes Ask a friend or family member to interview you
