2019/4/24June 2010 doc.: IEEE 802.11-10/xxxxr0 Introduction This presentation is comments clarification on VHT Operation notes and VHT Action field in Draft P802.11ac_D1.0. Currently, the notes of VHT Operation has changed into “The VHT Operation element is present when the dot11VHTOptionImplemented attribute is true” . But we think this “notes” in table 8-19 et al doesn’t satisfy the requirement, and we propose our revise advice. VHT Operation Notes Problem Statement(1) As in the document 11/276r17 CID1810 shows that the notes of VHT Operation is “The VHT Operation element is present when the dot11VHTOptionImplemented attribute is true” . And apply to Tables 8-19, 8-22, 8-24 and 8-26 in Draft P802.11ac_D1.0. According to the context of the P802.11ac_D1.0, we think this “notes” doesn’t satisfy the requirement, and should be changed to fit the point.

VHT Operation Notes Problem Statement(2) As the paragraph 6.3.11.2.2 Semantics of the service primitive in Draft P802.11ac_D1.0 describes the VHT Operation parameter : “The parameter is present if BSSType = INFRASTRUCTURE and dot11VHTOptionImplemented is true; otherwise, this parameter is not present”. So we conclude that the VHT Operation parameter is present need two conditions. And we should consider the type of BSS when give the notes of VHT operation, and the notes of the VHT operation in Draft P802.11ac_D1.0 doesn’t satisfy this requirement.

Recommended changes for VHT Operation Notes Considering one of the condition “BSSType = INFRASTRUCTURE ”, we propose our revise advice: The notes of VHT Operation should be changed into “The VHT Operation element is included by an AP when dot11VHTOptionImplemented attribute is true”. And apply to Tables 8-19, 8-22, 8-24 and 8-26 in new Draft of 802.11ac. Our revise advice refers to the notes of HT Operation in 802.11n-2009.

VHT Action Field Problem Statement and Recommended changes The length of VHT Action field is one octet, so the value of 0-255 should be clarified. But the VHT Action field values in Draft P802.11ac_D1.0 only give the value of 0-2. Insert a row in the Table 8-ac16—VHT Action field values in Draft P802.11ac_D1.0. Summary The problems are: VHT Operation notes aren’t satisfied the requirement. The value of VHT Action field should be clarified. This presentation provides the solutions to the problems: The notes of VHT Operation change into “The VHT Operation element is included by an AP when dot11VHTOptionImplemented attribute is true”. Insert a row in the Table 8-ac16—VHT Action field values in Draft P802.11ac_D1.0. Add value 3-255 should be reserved.
