Campfire News Around the Campfire Week of February 11-15 Camp Spanish Phrase of the Week is: Amistad (friendship) Inquiry into Math: This week, we will be adding and subtracting a ten to both a one and two-digit number. Inquiry into Literacy: This week we will be celebrating our 100th Day stories, along with a stories of friendship, specifically Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink by Diana DeGroat. Students will practice making predictions, sequencing with beginning, middle, end as well as making text-self connections. Letterland Unit 18: Children learn the soft sounds of c /s/ and g /j/ when followed by e. They use Magic e with Mr. U (Example: nice, cage, and cute). Writer’s Workshop: We will write about a time when we did something nice for someone else just as Gilbert, our story’s main character did when he wrote nice cards for his classmates. Inquiry into Science: We will continue our next big unit of study, where we will explore Forces and Motion. Inquiry into Social Studies: We will continue our Geography unit. We will take a look at the basic elements of geographic representations using maps (cardinal directions and map symbols). We appreciate you keeping your child at home if they are not well enough to be at school! According to Punxsutawney Phil  spring is just around the corner…so hopefully these germs will be leaving town soon!!! February 20th is our next Charity Day. Students are encouraged to pay $1 to dress like a superhero! All money collected will go to support Autism research!
