May 7 – In-Service Workshop – Room 228 – Presenter: Donna Spear Workshop Objectives: Realize the potential for using presentations in the classroom Learn the features of PowerPoint Spend time creating effective lessons in PowerPoint Utilize the Internet to find PowerPoint slideshows

Why Use PowerPoint Slideshows? Classroom lessons Individualized instruction Parents' group meetings Teachers' seminars School fair displays PowerPoint can make a powerful impression on your audience.

Learn the features of PowerPoint Slides Text Box Animation Views Toolbars & Menus Pictures & Clips Action Buttons Web

Slides An opening slide appears when you load PowerPoint. To create additional slides, click New Slide (upper right of screen). Choose a preset layout or start from scratch.

Text Box There is an icon on your drawing tool bar that will create text boxes (bottom of screen). You will then draw whatever size text box you want.

Animation Use Custom Animation to apply special effects to your slides. The Custom Animation option is found under the Slide Show menu.

Views There are three different views in PowerPoint Normal--one slide at a time for editing Slide Sorter—shows all the slides on one page Slide Show which runs the presentation full screen

Toolbars & Menus Menus are at the top of the screen: File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Slide Show, Window, Help Task Pane (Right of Screen) Standard Toolbar (Top Left of Screen) Formatting (Top Right of Screen) Drawing Toolbar (Bottom of Screen)

Pictures/Clip art Insert pictures from the Internet with copy and paste OR save and then use the Insert menu, click Picture, from file. For Clip Art, use the Insert menu, click Picture, Clip Art.

Action Buttons Use Action Buttons with Hyperlinks to navigate the slideshow or to actively engage the viewer.

PowerPoints on the Web Search the web for ready-to-use PowerPoint presentations. Then customize to meet your individual needs. Go to www.google.com and use Advanced Search
