The Significance of the Bread & Cup When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes back again. 1Corinthians 11:26 Pastor Mike Brubaker

What is pictured by the Bread & the Cup? Jesus’ death on the Cross.

Some of the Biblical passages that refer to the Bread & the Cup Matthew 26:26-29 Mark 14:22-25 Luke 22:14-20 1Corinthians 10:16-17 1Corinthians 11:23-26

What was accomplished by Jesus’ death on the Cross? Redeemed us from the curse of the Law. (Galatians 3:13) Released us from our sins. (Revelation 1:5) Purchased us for God. (Revelation 5:9) Brought us near to God. (Ephesians 2:13) Secured for us eternal life. (John 3:14-15) Justified us. (Romans 5:9)

What was accomplished by Jesus’ death on the Cross? (Continued) Sanctified us. (Hebrews 10:10) Made us perfect in God’s sight. (Hebrews 10:14) Opened a way for us into God’s presence. (Hebrews 10:19-20) Made it impossible to condemn us. (Romans 8:33-34) Cleanses us constantly from all sin. (1John 1:7) Made us fit to dwell with God in heaven. (Revelation 7:14)

Let’s approach the Bread & Cup the next time as if it’s our first remembrance. Let’s ask God to help us not merely to go through the motions. Let’s ask God to make each time of Communion a meaningful time of worship.
