Centuries ago riddles were used often in stories, as a sort of test. A riddle is a puzzling question or problem.

Quickwrite Imagine you’re in a life-or-death situation. Your survival depends on giving the correct answer to one of these riddles: What do men want most in the world? What do women want most in the world? Write three answers to each riddle. Circle the one that you think gives you the best shot at survival.
