Presentation transcript:

Giving Reality a little twist. Altered Reality Giving Reality a little twist.

Since the invention of the camera, artist have wanted to do something more than just copy reality.

By altering one or two of the elements they could alter reality in new and interesting ways. ALTERED LINE:

ALTERED SHAPE:

ALTERED COLOR:

ALTERED TEXTURE

ALTERED VALUE

ALTERED FORM

ALTERED SPACE

Which elements were altered in these art works by SHHS students?

Your task will be to create a work of art that alters reality. Choose your subject matter and draw it realistically in your sketch book (less complex subject matter usually works better) Decide which elements you will alter and in what way (I would alter at least 2 but don’t alter all of them). Draw some sketches of your altered reality in you sketch book. Choose you best idea and work it into a finished piece.

The criteria for this assignment is: Subject matter is interesting but not too complex for the assignment. Altering is interesting and original. Composition is effective. Workmanship is at “college-level.” Time and effort art evident.
