Language Arts Novel Study: City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau Test on beginning through ch. 5 on Weds. 2/22-study guide in Classroom After this novel study, students will be studying theme and creating book trailers for independent reading books Writing- Literary Analysis

Special event Chris Barton author visit on Friday, February 24 All 5th graders will hear him speak. Interested students can sign up for a writing workshop. 25 students will be randomly selected. Google form for sign-up is on library page of MIS/HPMS website.

Social Studies Finishing Government Unit Coming up... Westward Expansion Civil War SS test on Weds. 3/1. Study materials will be posted on 2/22.

Science Mars Lander Egg drop was a success! Ask about design! Unit 5: Earth and Space Unit- Started with fossils, moved into non-renewable, renewable, and alternative energy resources. Next quick check will cover alternative energy and landforms- toward the latter part of next week. Next unit test will be around February 24 Space Science (week of April 3rd)
