Ephesians 1:7-8
Ephesians 1:7-8 (NIV) In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
“…redemption through his blood”
“The fundamental idea of redemption is the setting free of a thing or a person that has come to belong to another.”
Redemption was not cheap. The cost was as high as it gets. What was the cost of redemption? Paul said, “We have redemption through His blood…. . .” R Redemption was not cheap. The cost was as high as it gets.
When I choose to go against this plan and live in sin, I am choosing to live as if His death on the cross never happened; as if it has no meaning; as if it deserves no consideration; and as if His bleeding and dying for me does not matter.
“…the forgiveness of sins…”
The noun “forgiveness” (Gk The noun “forgiveness” (Gk.: aphesis) comes from a verb which means “to send away, to bid to depart.” God sends our sins away. They no longer stand between us and God.
