History of Walmart Walmart the larges international discount retail chain is found by Sam Walton at Bentonville, Arkansas in 1962. Walmart operates over 11,500 retails units under 63 banners in 28 countries. They also operate using e-commerce in 11 countries. They have 2.3 million associates around the world and 1.5 million in the U.S alone. The unique thing about Walmart is they have museum which called The Walmart Museum at Bentonville Square. They offer a family-friendly experience featuring a world class exhibition gallery, Walmart’s 5&10, and the Spark Café Soda Fountain.

History of Target Target was originally named Good Fellow Dry Goods, in 1902 and changed to Dayton's Dry Goods in 1903 after the owner George Dayton. The headquarters is in Minneapolis, Minnesota but the first Target location was in Roseville, Minnesota in 1962! Whenever he partnered with J.L. Hudson Company in 1969 it became Dayton- Hudson Co, becoming the 14th largest retailer in the United State. Nationwide expansion started in 1982 and by 1987 it was in 24 states for a total of 317 Units.

History of Costco Costco was first called Price Club and opened in 1976. Costco originally served only businesses in San Diego California out of an airplane hangar. Realizing it’s unique clientele they decided to offer good prices for Non-Business Members. This exclusive membership was appealing as they offered an array of high quality goods for an affordable price. It is recognized as a warehouse giant as of 2012, and as of February 9th 2017 Costco has 727 stores Nationwide!
